چکیده

A studyofthetransportcoe cientsofasystem ofelastichard disks, based on theuseofHelfandEinstein expressions is reported. The self-di usion, the viscosity, and the heat conductivity are exam ined with averaging techniques especially appropriate for the use in event-driven m olecular dynam icsalgorithm swith periodic boundary conditions. The density and size dependence ofthe resultsis analyzed, and com parison with the predictions from Enskog’s theory is carried out. In particular, the behaviorofthe transportcoe cients in the vicinity ofthe uid-solid transition is investigated and a strikingpowerlaw divergenceoftheviscosity in thisregion isobtained, whileall otherexam ined transportcoe cientsshow a drop in thatdensity range-in relation to theEnskog prediction. The six th viria l coe cient of hard disc mix tures RICHARD

New calculations of the sixth virial coe cient are presented for binary hard disc mixtures. For each diameter ratio considered, the calculations involve about 1600 9-dimensional integrals. The integrals are evaluated exactly in d dimensions, and approximately, using the Korobov± Conroy number theoretical method, in the other (9 d ) dimensions, where d is between 4 and 8 for each diagram. The ...

Exact analytic expression for a subset of fourth virial coe cients of polydisperse hard sphere mixtures

It is surprisingly di cult to calculate analytic expressions for virial coe cients. Even the exact calculation of the second virial coe cient is in general extremely di cult. If particles have no other interaction than hard core repulsion, things are slightly easier. In the isotropic phase, the second virial coe cient B 2 of two arbitrary, convex particles A and B can be determined by [1]

Exploiting Probabilistic Independence for Permutations: Proofs

The multiplicities in the decomposition (Equation 0.1) are equivalent to the famousLittlewood-Richardson coe cients, 1 and in this appendix, we describe a result known as the Littlewood-Richardson (LR) rule which will allow us to compute the Littlewood-Richardson coe cients tractably (at least for low-order terms). There are several methods for computing these numbers (see [Knutson and Tao, 199...

Toward parametric representation of speech for speaker recognition systems

The front-end used in many speaker recognition systems extracts, from the input speech signal, a set of coe cients based on a mel-cepstrum technique. This paper addresses the problem of e ciency of melcepstrum coe cients in a speaker recognition system and suggests a technique permitting an appropriate choice of these coe cients. It is shown, by the results obtained, that this technique can sig...
